A Letter of Thanksgiving For All Our Partners

Greetings in the Lord Jesus Christ! As this November takes us toward the holiday of Thanksgiving, we want to say THANK YOU to our mission prayer partners and supporters. You will hear briefly from Larry & Sue, then from Havalyn & Jean-Louis. First from the Corrells....

"We are happily at work in Tucson for the next 6 months. It is a real joy to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ, in a loving, caring way, to nearly 900 senior citizens, as their missionary pastor and wife. Someone asked if our winter work was a paid position. We work about 50 hours a week (preaching, Bible training, hospital & nursing home calling, home visitation, counseling, and praying) and receive $110 per week... or $2860 for 6 month mission. We really DO count on and appreciate your continued support for this part of our ministry, just as we do for the remainder of our mission to Belgium, England, and South Africa. In the 2 winters that we've been in Tucson, people have come to Christ for salvation, some have dramatically grown in their faith, and others are intentionally seeking for God. Thank you for "walking with us" among our people...making it possible for us to share the love of Jesus every day in the desert."

"Bon Jour...to all of you who know us and pray for us back there in America. Jean-Louis and I have had a whirl-wind summer. First our wedding in July, then a beautiful honeymoon, and finally getting settled in our flat in Auvelais, Belgium. Immediately, we found ourselves involved in mission in our community. At first I (Havalyn) had to get back into my French language classes in Namur. Then I found myself counseling women who were having serious family and life-threatening personal issues. Jean-Louis began a time of training with Pstr David Doyen that will lead him into eldership and ministry in our community. Together, we are now organising our Gospel outreach work through what we call Club Tournesol (for young adults), Teen Club, and friendship Bible times. I'm back in Worship ministry and one of the things that takes time is translating my English-language songs into French. Jean-Louis and I must earn the trust of the community as a bi-national couple and we know it will take time. So, we trust Jesus, we love His people, and we are ready to work hard. Thank you for remembering us and our mission."

Timothy Ministries: Important Information about the rest of 2010

Dear Mission Friends and Family,

Please STOP and read this letter. It will give you very important information about the rest of 2010, well into 2011, for those of us who work together in Timothy Ministries here and overseas. It'll help you know how to pray for all of us.

In October, Larry and Sue will leave Beloit, once more, to preach the Word of God and strengthen local churches in Colorado, California, Arizona, and along the Mexican border. From Autumn through next Spring, they will teach, preach, pastor, and counsel in numerous places as itinerant missionaries in the American Southwest. Between speaking at Church Mission and Bible Conferences and caring for the spiritual needs of hundreds of senior citizens and "snowbirds", they will put on 1000s of miles and keep happily active serving Jesus Christ. Along with the hands-on work, they continue to consult and mentor many Christian pastors and their families in Europe, Africa, and North America. One of the great joys of the mission work is to watch younger Christian pastors, whom they've trained, take their place in local, regional, and national leadership in their countries.

In 2011, following grandchildren's High School graduations and officiating at the wedding of a Christian friend and co-worker, Larry and Sue will begin to plan for one more trip to Europe and Africa to encourage and support the evangelists, pastors, and congregations with whom they've ministered since 1993. It's time to hand over all the overseas work and become their "Cheerleaders!"

One such young man is Israel Kande, pastor of the Emmanuel Church in Capetown, South Africa. Through the years of hard work at Kum Bible College (KBC) with Edmunds and Brenda Flatela, Charles Damse, and Ewart Masondo, we discovered "God's man" for the war refugees from the Congo who were forced to flee their land and settle in Capetown. Pastor Kande is a resourceful, bright, energetic spiritual leader who has established a wonderful ministry to the downtrodden, poor, and homeless. We consider it an honor to have Israel and his wife, Rachel, as our Timothy partners. Soon, he will also return to Kinshasa, Congo to conduct evangelistic meeting there. We are supporting his work and have since his days with us at (KBC).

Larry and Sue continue to teach and counsel young Mexican Christians who are getting their pastoral training on the "border" where life, itself, is a risk. We cannot pray enough for those young men and women who are called to "carry the Light of Christ" in a very, very dark land. We must be like "Aaron and Hur" to them, if we can.

Havalyn Nesler, our "woman in Belgium" is beginning a new and exciting chapter of her missionary life. As our Timothy Worker in French-speaking churches, she has planted "good seed" for the Gospel and is ready to head into the next phase of her work. We'll let her tell you first-hand .....

"After spending a challenging, miraculous, and eye-opening six months working and training in Belgium, I am just back in the USA and hard at work "earning my keep" and continuing the training process that began overseas. During my time spent in Auvelais, Belgium, God showed me a tremendous need for committed church workers and I know I am personally called to help nurture and prepare Belgian Christians for Christian ministry. I will return to Auvelais and the greater Sambreville area in August, 2011 as a long-term missionary, working with the same church where I've been ministering since January, 2010. During this year in America, I will travel with Larry and Sue in the Midwest (and then "solo'?) to raise prayer and financial support. I'll also begin coursework with Moody Bible Institute toward a "Certificate in Biblical Studies" so that I'll be better equipped to minister now and upon my return to Belgium. Please pray for me as I balance all these responsibilities ... a full-time job, school, home and family, and the raising of my support during these next 11 months. God bless you for caring about me. Over the years, we've been blessed with wonderful co-workers. We consider Havalyn one of our "torchbearers for Jesus" in Timothy Ministries' future. With people like Havalyn (in Europe), Israel and Rachel and Edmunds and Brenda (in Africa), and Larry and Sue still wandering all over the place (plus our home volunteers) we have high hopes for the simple, quiet mission of the Timothy Ministries family TO GLORIFY GOD, STRENGTHEN THE CHURCH, AND OFFER CHRIST WHEREVER WE GO!

Returning Home from Mexico

Dear Friends,

After preaching in Tucson Sunday morning, we will begin our trip back across the country to our home in Beloit. The work in Mexico is finished for now. We go back into Mexico to teach again in November and beyond, even as we resume our missionary chaplaincy, again, at that time here in greater Tucson. Thank you for praying for our safety on the roads.

Havalyn Nesler Going to Belgium!

To all of you who have been praying, have supported our work, and have been waiting with us.....

Our young woman who has been waiting for her resident visa approval from the Belgian Immigration Office and Consulate HAS BEEN APPROVED! After 3 months of delays and governmental red tape, God has moved the hand of the Belgian officials and Havalyn has been cleared to live in Auvelais, Belgium to work as our newest Timothy Missionary with E'glise Protestant Evangelique in the greater Sambreville region. She will, now, begin to search for the best flights to Brussels, leaving in January 2010. Her wait is not long compared to many missionaries who must wait for 6 to 12 months. We praise our Lord for His timing... what a wonderful Christmas gift!

THANK YOU for standing firm with us as we have been working to launch Havalyn into foreign mission work. And, THANK YOU for continuing to pray for her, for her adjustment to European lifestyles and ministry, and for us, as we continue to resource her during her first term abroad. We'll keep you posted as to the final stages of her journey as she settles in to Auvelais. This is very exciting for all of us at Timothy Ministries. After 17 years of quiet, consistent missionary experience around the world, in many ways, it is the passing of the mantle to a second generation who shares our passion to bring Christ to the lost and the lost to Christ. We praise God!

Dear Friends and Partners,

If you are traveling on the roads this summer, look for Sue's little yellow Mini. We'll be spending a lot of time in it. During these "furlough" months, we are trying to re-connect with our prayer partners and supporters. We want to say THANK YOU for all the love and support you continue to give. And, we are pleased to be invited into new churches who are willing to hear our stories of Jesus and people around the world. We have preached across America, already this year, from south-central California to the Detroit area to Florida. God has opened doors for us in our own Midwest and we'll be sharing the Word and our stories of the mission work in many congregations, at our national church convention, and across kitchen tables in many homes. And, we have 3 exciting bits of news for the future:

While here in the USA, we've just had the privilege of hosting our dear friends, Dick and Moira Curry, who run an NGO (non-governmental organization) in Uganda. We are trying to help them find more support for their Christian-based development work in Mbali and Buta. Later in the summer, Philip & Helen Clarke, from Aberdeen, Scotland will be staying with us in Beloit. From 1997 to 2003, Philip and I trained young Romanian church leaders in the Transylvanian region and now they are training their own pastors & teachers. It's a joy to See so much of our work in the hands of Christian nationals.

In September, we send Havalyn Nesler to Auvelais, Belgium to work for a season as our Timothy Ministries missionary-in-residence there. This 24-year-old woman will be ministering with a local church across the generations and in the French-Walloon language in a region where there are very few committed Christian believers. We are thrilled to help launch her out into the world of foreign mission.

On 7 October, we trade Sue's Mini for an airplane and head back to Africa. We are excited for you to know that we will be doing Bible teaching and church revivals among Congolese war refugees. With Kum Bible College completely on its own now, we are, also, free to help do bush evangelism and new church planting in villages along the Eastern Cape/Kwa-Zulu Natal border. We will be working alongside our old friends Edmunds Flatela, Banzi Kobo, Jude Mua-Kebei, Ewart Masondo, and Ayanda Mbombo. Living rough, preaching every night...it's tough, but it's wonderful work!

We are amazed that God still wants to use us to build up and encourage HIS mission here and overseas. Please continue to pray for us and our co-workers. We'll add more details when we write to you in the autumn.

God answers prayer

To all our family & friends,

We cannot praise God well enough as we tell you that the neurologists and neurosurgeons all agree that the mass in Andrew's brain is, in fact, a pineal cyst and not a tumor. God has answered all of our prayers, together. Andrew had his consultation on Friday afternoon and they say it will bear watching, but that it should be no problem. He has confidence in the Lord and the expertise of the doctors....and a new lease on life.

This battle, for the last 9 days, has belonged to the Lord (2 Chron 20:15) and we tried to stand firm on the authority of the Word, especially Isaiah 49:13-16. Did we worry and cry? Yes! Did we trust Jesus? Yes! And we trust the faithfulness of you who prayed. Thank you! Please pass the word along to those who were praying with you.

PRAYER FOR ANDREW CORRELL

You are all our dear friends,

and we need your prayers.... our youngest son, Andrew, 36, from Indianapolis, IN was recently diagnosed with diabetes. Just as he was getting used to dealing with that, an MRI has shown a mass in the pineal area at the base of the brain. It is to be biopsied soon to discover what the mass really is... and what course of medical care needs to come next We just received the news on Friday mid-afternoon.That's all we know. Will you please pray for him and for his children?

We are asking the Lord Jesus Christ to glorify Himself through our son, his illness, and this entire situation. We will all stand firm in Christ and walk through this.
Thank you surrounding Andrew with heart-felt prayer.

Annual Timothy Ministries Gathering '09

Tent evangelism in South Africa, in the bush locations (purchasing a tent for mobile meeting sites) in the autumn of '09

It is important that as many of us, as possible, get together to worship, pray, and talk on that Saturday. If anyone living away from the Beloit area needs a bed for Friday or Saturday night (or both), several of us can provide hospitality.

Prayer Requests For Larry & Sue

Please pray for churches in Europe, Africa, and North America who are in critical times of transition due to problems with religious legalism, false or unbalanced teaching, excessive emotionalism, business mentalities, and the implications of social/humanitarian work that blunt the full effect of real Gospel ministry.
Please pray for the local and national Christian leaders who have taken on the responsibility of administration and education at Kum Bible College and in the various training centers associated with Timothy Ministries in Africa and Europe.
Please pray for Christian leaders and workers who have trouble showing respect for and loving their people, thereby diminishing the sense of spiritual worth within a congregation or community of believers. When Christians believe that they are undervalued, there can be fear, demoralization, and a strong sense of spiritual failure. Love can soon become a scarce commodity.
Please pray for Larry and Sue as they go through a year of "furlough," report-giving to supporters and donors, traveling in America, and transitioning to a work as "trouble-shooters" and counseling missionaries to local churches who need rescue and revival. As always, they want to hear God, obey His Word, live in His Spirit and do the simple things that He asks them to do.

Belgium and England missional recap

We spent nearly a month in Belgium and England, stopping to visit Christian workers and preach/teach in several venues. By way of simplicity, let us recite the account through prayer requests that we have for people and places:

For the Evangelical Church in Auvelais, Belgium (and David Doyen, Pastor) pray for continued spiritual growth and outreach, freedom from legalism and guilt-producing doctrine that spiritually debilitates individuals and keeps them from understanding their worth before God as born-again believers and as "laborers in the harvest". (Matthew 9:35-38)

For John and Lesley Robinson (Timothy Ministries UK Treasurer) and their church group, pray that they will find a new approach to reaching the lost of Southern Cumbria, England as the church "re-invents" itself in 2009. Pray that Scriptural teaching will be solid... and important... as they attempt to engage the lost and the hurting.

For Rugby International Fellowship Church (Jim Lyon & Stephen Homer, Elders) pray that their leadership in "Churches Together" evangelism and outreach will reap souls for Christ and new members for the congregation.

For Ashingdon United Free Church, Essex, England (Craig Delves, Alec Eves, & Malcolm Jones, Elders) pray that they, as a congregation, will re-commit themselves to a sound, Biblical foundation for discipleship, leadership, and evangelism, putting aside past issues that have threatened the church's great forward momentum for Christ.

For Main Street Community Church, Frodsham, England (Tim Coad, Pastor) pray that as they reach out to their community for Christ that they not allow the pressure of pluralistic secularism nor well-intentioned humanitarianism to blunt the full proclamation of the Gospel, including the call to commitment and decision on the part of those who do not yet know Christ as Saviour.

Last General Update from the desert valley

Dear Family, Friends, and Prayer Partners,

This will be the last general update from the desert valley, here in Wasco, before we end this mission assignment and head home to Beloit the end of September. GOD IS SO GOOD! We have worked very hard, have enjoyed our time here immensely, and have seen good things... in the healing of this church, in the empowering of the elders, and in setting a course for the future of the congregation.

We know it sounds weird to say that a church that 9 months ago was ready to "die" after a massive leadership/interpersonal explosion...is healthy enough to look to the future. But it seems to be true! We've seen the Lord Jesus Christ do some miraculous things in people's hearts.

In a nutshell, here's what we saw:

We inherited a demoralised, fearful congregation that had split in a major way.

The people felt used, disrespected, and neglected by the former pastor and a small but vocal group that supported him and dominated church life.

There was very little sense of direction or purpose. Like another church we served about 10 years ago overseas, there was massive fragmentation.

Here's what we are seeing today:

The fear is gone! There really is new hope, new spiritual life, and as one woman said Sunday morning, "Oh boy! There's joy in our church, again!"

The people are starting to believe that God values them and that they have a role in sharing Christ with their community, once again. In fact we've seen more, new, overt ways that they are speaking about Jesus out in the town, than when we came. Sue and I have tried to model overt, but relational evangelism with them.

There is a new sense of purpose and direction... they are figuring out who they are as a church in their community, and what they want to offer the populace.

The elders are much more cohesive and intentional about their spiritual role in the congregation.

They are less "a board" and more "a ministry team strong in the Word, prayer, and caregiving".

The few dissident families have had to "fish or cut bait". The church has decided not to run after the trouble-makers anymore. See Proverbs 19:19. Two families are back cooperating and trying to heal as well. 3 families decided to go elsewhere and have taken their problems to other area churches. We'll see how that goes!?!?!

The church has a new Pulpit Search Team that has started the process of finding God's next settled Pastor for Grace Church. This time, they are looking for a man with a real love for Jesus and a tender heart for people.

The pieces of the puzzle are in place. Now, in about 5 to 6 weeks, we will bow out quietly so they can get on with consolidating their new health and new hope, without becoming dependent on us...after all... we're just itinerant missionaries here, too. We look back on these 6 months and realise that God has allowed us to be a small part of a big project. We praise the Lord because He did things so simply: We knew we had a message to give and we needed to model Biblical, Servant Leadership.

Here's what happened:

We preached a return to our first love for Jesus as Saviour and Lord, personally.

We taught only from the Bible, no other Christian books..

We tried to demonstrate a dependence on prayer, with genuine caregiving.

We reminded the people of the reality of the Holy Spirit, here and now!

We tried to live in such a way, transparently, that they saw that we really loved and cherished the people... and had a shepherd's heart for them.

I taught and trained the elders consistently in informal ways and actions. They started to "get it" and developed a "corporate model for leadership" on their own. Sue and I, over and over, talked about A PASSION FOR JESUS AND A COMPASSION FOR PEOPLE. Then we tried to simply show it!

We will leave here happy and content that God used our meagre gifts simply and at the right time. We've enjoyed this "mission field" as much as Europe & Africa. After a brief rest in Beloit, we head off to England, Belgium, then Mexico and a wee bit more work in the USA. In the spring, we're going to rest, enjoying only weekend trips to speak in supporting churches, hopefully... and consider new plans about South Africa. You'll hear more about that in the October & December newsletters. The two things we've learned in these 6 months is that God can still use us and that after all these years of travel, we are happy with a more "settled" ministry.
So many miles... the tired tires get a little bald (not just the head!).

TIMOTHY MINISTRIES July Update 2008

Hi, friends and family,

This is just a brief update to let you know what we see God doing in this mission in wildfire-laden, hot, desert California. We are about 50 miles from the Piute Fire and 100 miles from the Santa Barbara fire, so no danger. Our skies are brownish-blue and the air quality is not good, but everyone here is safe. Praise God!

The church is really changing, week-by-week. We see and hear really different attitudes and sense a new, healthier environment for this struggling congregation. The main focus is shifting back onto Jesus and less on the people, especially those with gripes and negative feelings about their past. There is true hope in Christ... and the return of grace in relationships. We see it, day by
day.

It's been about 9 months since the big "blow-up" in the church. Now, they are sensing a new beginning... like giving birth to new hope and purpose (this time centered on Christ, not man). Last night at the Church Board, they asked me if I would help them set in motion the process of a Pulpit Search Team... to find God's man that He's prepared for them, as their permanent pastor for the future. I was overjoyed to say YES, I'LL HELP YOU START THAT PROCESS! By the time we leave here 30 September, a good Pulpit Search Team should be in place, praying and working together.

Please pray that Sue and I will continue to be good role models, give sound, godly advice, preach Christ, teach the Bible, and care for the people so that God gets all the glory, not us. We're learning that missionary families are needed in this country, too. There are few things in ministry, for us, more exciting than watching a sick church get healthy, again.

We'll write again in August and let all of you know how the ministry is developing here.

Dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

We have just received word from our Congolese co-worker in Capetown that there are increasing xenophobic attacks on African foreigners in the Capetown area (as well as in other RSA cities). Several people have been killed, many injured, houses and little shops ransacked, looted, and destroyed. Israel Kande writes that there are massive attacks on Congolese, Somalis, Mozambiquans, and Zimbawbeans, by South Africans. Many of our Congolese friends, with whom Timothy Ministries works, are in harms way.

I verified the information by going to BBC and Reuters News to read (and see on Internet Video) to get the right facts. It is as Rev. Kande says. It's genocide simply because these black African foreigners are just that... foreigners whom the locals see as a threat to their economy, etc. Many of the "foreigners" (like our Congolese friends) are refugees and they are very vulnerable.

Please Pray. Please ask God to Quell this evil. Please ask God to Glorify Himself in this horrid situation. And, please ask God to use this time of murder and destruction to strengthen the Christians to show and tell how badly South Africa needs Christ. TIMOTHY MINISTRIES Summer Update 2008

Just a brief note to let you know that things are going very well. There are signs of major reconciliation and spiritual restoration that are having a very good effect upon relationships in the Body of Christ. Guess what? Calling people back to their First Love in Jesus Christ" is really the key thing. When people start enjoying Jesus, its amazing how they start to enjoy each other, again. We feel so honoured to be here watching God at work.

Wanted you all to know that we're thriving in this home mission. It's good work to see the Church revived and renewed and finally starting to look to its brighter, hopeful future, rather than languish in its painful past.

Timothy Report May 2008

Hello from perpetually sunny, desert CA. We're doing very well in a strategically difficult situation. But God is good and has really opened the door for our ministry here. There are real signs of healing in the congregation. One guy said, "For the first time in two years, when I come to church, I feel like I can breathe, again." The tension must've been incredible. The leaders are starting to gain hope and confidence in the church's future. Time will tell. We're trusting the Lord and trying to slowly turn the focus back onto Jesus, and away from personalities & programs, etc. Keep praying!

We're working night and day. We've already had 86 visits, meetings, & counseling sessions, believe it or not, within the 25 days we've been here. It's pretty non-stop, but it's good, solid home mission work. We're both healthy and full of energy.

We want to say THANK YOU, again, for your generosity in providing us with our salary during these months working out here. We didn't expect that...but it really touched us and made us feel appreciated. Thanks, Philip, and everybody who was so kind in this matter.

We also wanted you to know that we've not let the overseas work slip. I've been counseling with 3 foreign pastors about helping them with ideas for evangelism and outreach in Capetown, Belgium, and England. I field many requests for Sue and me to go overseas in 08-09 to do crusades, leadership training, and church recovery projects, each week. The majority have come from Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Kenya, and the Philippines, recently. I've tried to graciously decline and put these guys onto other mission organisations that could meet their needs. I even had to counsel an 18 year old who wanted to skip college and go to Africa to work as an untrained missionary. I said, get your education, a useful mission skill, and some life experience... then launch yourself into the unknown. Never heard back, obviously.

We miss home and all of you very much. Thank you for not forgetting us or to pray for us. We need you. I'll close for now. We love you. Take care and stay close to Jesus!

Spring 2008

May we have a little of your time? We have a few very important things we want to tell you about the work that God has given us. It's been 42 years since we stepped into our first pastorate back in central Indiana. It has been 15 years that we've been traveling, preaching, teaching, and trying to build up the Christian Church in Europe, Africa, and North America, as "on the road" missionaries.

We believe God has accomplished a great deal through our meagre efforts. He has given us faithful workers and partners (like many of you) who have blest us with your time, talents, prayers, and finances. TOGETHER, we have represented Christ in England, Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, Romania & Moldova, in South Africa, Mexico, and right here at home in America. Together, we've funded new growing ministries in Russia, Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe, and in the mountains of Bolivia. Many of you have been by our side overseas ... and we are grateful to you. As you read this, we are "on the road" to California to share the Word of God and the love of Jesus among friends there. Right now, Joe Correll is in Uruguay helping a YFC chapter prepare to train its workers for the future. Timothy Ministries' people just keep on going!

We know that we cannot remember all the places and all the faces where we have taught the Bible, preached Christ, trained teachers, hammered nails, nursed the sick, passed out tracts, sung our songs, spoken our testimonies, sent out prayer letters, hugged the hurting, prayed with people, and simply loved those we've met. You have ministered in these ways to so many people around the world, WITH US. We cannot count the numbers. We are just amazed and humbled by God's grace in our lives and work.

Now, it's time to look ahead to the next 5 years. When we envision 2008 through 2012, our hearts say 1) finish the work at Kum Bible College and in the Congolese refugee mission, South Africa; 2) complete the Bible teaching/training in Belgium and Mexico; 3) and be available to "trouble-shoot", counsel, and love our own American churches when we're asked to come share the Word of God among them. But, of course, our hearts also say, "Listen for God's call to other places and faces ... and be flexible!"

We are going to contact you again in October. Pray for our mission outreach in south central California. We want to teach, preach, and model the reconciling love of Jesus.

Will you stay with us? We need and want your help. Pray for us. Support God's work and our small part in it. Advise us. Push us on. Hold up our hands. Be available. WE NEED YOU HERE..... AND WE MAY NEED YOU "THERE", ON THE ROAD, AGAIN!

Dear Timothy Family,

Greetings! If you had to miss the Saturday meeting due to family situations, travel, and/or ministry and mission responsibilities, I wanted to bring you up-to-date concerning decisions and plans for the future with Timothy Ministries.

Our current USA Treasury (Dick Thompson) had approximately $34,000 as of 14 March, 2008. And, our UK Treasury (Lesley Robinson) had about 2200 Pounds or
$4400 in it. We are solvent and praising God for His provision.
Current Involvements for March include officiating at the wedding of Rob Tust and
Jodi Dunham in Elkhorn, WI..... a young couple who met on a Timothy mission trip to Frodsham, England. (Timothy Ministries has even "planted" a new family!!! :>) Philip
Allen will represent Timothy Ministries at the Annual Meeting of the Northern Illinois Fellowship of the CCCC, in Chicago. And, Larry & Sue Correll will speak at the Winneconne Christian Fellowship on 5-6 April.
To honor the ministry of Tom Amundson (one of our dedicated workers who died of cancer in February), those here established a Short-term Mission Scholarship Fundto assist applicants who need help with funding for short-term trips, here or abroad. We allocated a total of $2008 for this year, $2009 for next year, and $2010 for the following year... to be awarded to any number of American local church applicants who meet these criteria:
- have a testimony of a born-again relationship with Jesus Christ, and an ability to express why they are going on a short-term mission trip.
- are going with a church and/or mission organisation that is Bible-based and Christ-centred, and have a legitimate reference from their pastor and/or mission director.
- that the main emphasis of the short-term trip is evangelistic.
- that the applicant has made legitimate attempts to raise funds and still has a need for money to get to 100% of the cost of the trip.
  We have sent out notices to our supporting churches & representative donors stating that potential applicants should contact Rudy and Marty Zuniga. They are our contact people for administering Scholarships and are working with our evaluation group (Joe Correll, Philip Allen, Doug Gearhart, and Jean DiBenardo). We hope to be able to quietly help Christians serve their Lord in short-term mission for the next 3 years.
Future plans for mission trips include:
- 28 March-7 April...Joe Correll in Uruguay, building a YFC Training Centre. We contributed $800 for his contingency fund (tools, construction supplies, food, travel, as needed).
- 8 April-5 October...Larry & Sue in California, assisting and teaching a church in crisis, developing leadership and mission for the future. Those here made the decision to continue Larry & Sue's basic salary package (base pay, social security, & ministry expenses) during the 6 month work in CA)
- 20 October-12 November...Larry & Sue in Belgium, assisting David Doyen in leadership training and laying plans for a massive youth outreach in 2009.
- 30 December-18 January, 2009...Larry & Sue in Mexico, teaching Mexican pastors and church workers (at the invitation of Indian Trails Mission). We allocated $3000 for ITM to help our own Buck Van Zandt finish construction of the Tabernacle at Naco Bible Training Centre, Naco, Mexico.
- 27 January-10 March, 2009...Larry & Sue in Africa, teaching at Kum Bible College and at Emmanuel Christian Church, Capetown, leadership training. We allocated a total of $3000 for the support of ECC and its desire to lead in the ministry training of Congolese refugees in Capetown. The money is to be sent in March ($1200), August ($1200), and December ($600) of 2008. KBC needs to be self-sufficient and has other sources of funding, now. Larry will completely hand over leadership of KBC and its associated work by mid-2009. Sue, likewise, will complete her development work at Sizani School at the same time.
- 11 March-31 December, 2009...Larry & Sue will take a furlough (R & R) during these months, after 42 years of constant ministry and 15 years of travel for world mission on 3 continents. During these months, they will visit partners and donor churches to give updates and extend gratitude for prayers and support. These are the tentaive plans.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE DID ON SATURDAY WAS TO WORSHIP, SING, AND PRAY TOGETHER, BOTH AS WE BEGAN AND AT THE END OF THE BUSINESS MEETING. IT IS THAT COMMITMENT TO GIVE GLORY ONLY TO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, THAT KEEPS US GOING AND WORKING BY EACH OTHERS' SIDE. WORSHIP & PRAYER WILL ALWAYS BE THE CENTERPIECE OF TIMOTHY MINISTRIES AND HER PEOPLE! Then we ate lunch, together.
Our next annual mission gathering will likely be 25 April, 2009. THANK YOU AND GOD'S BLESSING TO EACH OF YOU WHO WALK WITH US! Philippians 1: 3-6.

"Because of Christ, you can do it!"

Autumn of 2007 was a time of great encouragement... God encouraging us in our work preaching and teaching the Word as we tried to be "Barnabas" to churches, pastors and their families, and old friends with whom we've shared ministry for many years. In Cumbria, Warwickshire, and Cheshire, Endland, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and in the Sambreville region of Belgium, we saw the gracious hand of God moving in Revival among the churches. It's a funny old thing, that at our age and stage in life, we have been pleased to be used of the Lord to simply say to Christian workers and congregations, "Because of Christ, you can do it!" We look ahead to see what God has in store for us in Europe in 2008. The photo gallery demonstrates the wonderful comradery and effective ministry across western Europe this fall.

Timothy Ministries Autumn 2007

Dear Partners and Friends,

We have returned from Africa. Sue has washed our clothes and repacked our bags. As you read this, we are flying out to Europe and another preaching mission in the churches of England, Scotland, and Belgium. Before Christmas comes, we will also have been able to minister the grace of Jesus Christ in Indiana, Ohio, California, and Wisconsin.

Before we ask for prayer and continued support, may we tell you a little about Africa and give God all the glory for the wonderful ministry we experienced? Teaching the Bible, preaching the Gospel of salvation, and training leaders has grown dramatically this year. We taught 5 college courses at Kum Bible College (for students aiming for graduation in 2008 & 2009). God blessed us with a powerful revival ministry in Six Trees/Lusikisiki District, Konjwaio, Kokstad, and Capetown. God opened the door into a large Christian community of Congolese refugees AND strengthened our work in the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal. Preaching in rondavels and villages, we saw about 70 young people give their lives to Christ as Saviour. We rejoiced to see nearly 200 believers re-dedicate their lives to Jesus. We were in awe as African pastors and elders re-committed their churches and ministries to reach the unsaved with the Gospel. And we were humbled to help plant a new congregation in a poor, out-of-the-way location called Kabajana. Sue was given a good opportunity to work with teachers in both preschools and in a government primary school called Sizani (where the students repair the mud walls of their own classrooms to keep the weather and the animals out!!!) We come home believing that the Holy Spirit has "opened the door" for more vigorous, hard work next year in all these places.

Joe and Dawn Correll and Dr. Philip Allen spent two weeks with us and were a great help in construction, medical outreach, and teaching. In their own individual ways, they learned the realities of cross-cultural mission work, created their own network of friends, and saw the work of the Holy Spirit. They surrendered themselves to personally be God's servants to their African brothers and sisters. That's what genuine mission work is all about! Bless you Joe, Dawn, and Phil; for all that you did with us.

We head across to Europe and then return to ministry in the USA between now and December. We could ask for the usual things like traveling mercies, increased financial support, stamina, good communication, and spiritual wisdom. . .and we do. We beg you to pray for the churches and pastors who have asked us to come serve them in preaching and teaching the Word of God. . .in Storth, Rugby, and Frodsham, Encland; in Aberdeen and Invurary, Soctland; in Auvelais and Dour, Belgium; in Elkhart, Indiana; in Logan, Ohio; in Wasco, California and in Shopiere, Wisconsin. Your steady prayer will undergird our mission and God will bless the places and people where we see Him at work. We believe that!

But, we have an even greater prayer request. Will you please pray that throughout these next few months, we will be changed by the grace of God to, simply, be more like Jesus? That's it. . .we want a continual transformation in our hearts to be like Him. We depend on Christ and we trust you to pray. Thank you! We love you! Talk to you in 3 months.

Theological Dictionary word of the day: Daniel
Daniel (Hebrew: דָּנִיֵּאל, Arabic: دانيال, Danyal) is a figure appearing in the Hebrew Bible and the central protagonist of the Book of Daniel. The name "Daniel" means "God is my judge" or "God's judge."

Daniel was a young man of the upper crust of Jewish society who was taken captive by Nebudchadnezzar, king of Babylon and the Chaldean dynasty. Nebudchadnezzar endeavored to remove all traces of Daniel's nationality and religion. For this reason they strove to change Daniel's name to Belteshazzar: (Dan. 1:7; 2:26; 4:8-9, 18-19; 5:12; 10:1).

At the first deportation of the Jews by Nebuchadnezzar II (the kingdom of Israel had come to an end nearly a century before at the hands of the Assyrians), or immediately after his victory over the Egyptians at the second battle of Carchemish, in the fourth year of the reign of Jehoiakim (B.C. 606), Daniel and three other noble youths named Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego were among the Jewish young nobility carried off to Babylon (probably as hostages to ensure the loyalty of Judah's king and advisors), along with some of the vessels of the temple. Daniel and his three Jewish companions were subsequently evaluated and chosen for their intellect and beauty, to be trained as Chaldeans, who constituted the ranks of the advisors to the Babylonian court.
